About Me

I wrote this post, if you're extremely bored, about 100 Totally Random Things About Me.

Here are more random things about me:

I'm a mommy to three children, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a Christian, an attorney... mostly I'm just thankful, because I am so blessed.  I grew up in Austria and Germany, which is where my family is from.  We moved to California when I was nine years old.  I went to college in Fayetteville, Arkansas and I love the Razorbacks.  I got married and then went to law school.

Our oldest daughter Sophia was born with a birthmark that covered her entire chest and hundreds of smaller ones.  Her condition is known as a giant congenital melanocytic nevus.  It's basically a giant mole, and gives her a much higher chance of getting melanoma, so we had most of it removed through a series of surgeries and procedures involving tissue expanders.  I worked at a large law firm for two years, but had to leave because of health insurance issues involving my daughter's surgery.  This was a huge blessing in disguise, because I wasn't a very good wife or mommy while I worked at the firm.  I now have a much more family-friendly job, with excellent benefits, for which I am eternally grateful.   Our second daughter, Amelia, was born when Sophia was nineteen months old, and they are best friends, despite being very different.  Our third baby, Henry, was born at home after a two year struggle with infertility and miscarriage, preterm labor and seven weeks of bed rest.

We live in a very small bungalow close to everything, and I love it.  Our children share a room, we don't have a play room or a separate dining room, or any "closets" in the modern sense of the word.  And we share a car.  But we make it work, because it's important for us to have a parent at home with our children (my husband) and not live beyond our means.  I see us as immensely wealthy compared to the rest of the world, and I strive daily to be thankful for everything we have.

I am passionate about leading a healthy life with my family.  We love cupcakes and fattening comfort meals, but our children also eat just about every vegetable.  We are in the process of eliminating as many chemicals as we can around our home.

This is way too much talk about me...
