Henry and I flew to California early last Saturday morning. This was Henry's first time flying and he was a champ. I shouldn't be surprised, because pretty much if I'm holding him, he's happy. And he was. He just sat in my lap and smiled at people - if they didn't acknowledge him, he just stared and grinned at them until they finally did (and he won over every single person along the way!)
He always fell asleep while I was nursing him during landing
Flying West is cool, because you get two extra hours in your day (if only I could perpetually fly West - how much I could get accomplished!), so we arrived at 9:00 a.m. after a six hour trip. We drove straight down to Carmel to visit Uncle Victor and Aunt Brittany.
Oh and Cousin Layla!
The weekend in Carmel was lovely. It was the 50th anniversary of the local sandcastle contest, although sadly it wasn't as neat as years past. This was the first place winner, though, and it was cool.
Henry loved the beach, but I couldn't get a good picture of him, because he was obsessed with looking at the sand.
But, oh boy, that babe sure wanted his mama around ALL the time. I've said before, he's attached to me. But on this trip, it was like MEGA bad. Not that I really minded. Look how happy he was to share a bed with me alone!
BUT on Monday my mom and Henry and I headed back up to San Francisco, where I had to leave him to attend my conference. And he pretty much screamed the entire time. Hours worth :(
And then when I was around, he was one happy baby! All the things that made him scream with my mom, made him laugh when I was around - his toys, the baby in the mirror
Looking out watching boats and watching the cars go by on the Bay Bridge
And meeting mama at Union Square for a mid-day snack
Sweet, sweet baby boy!
At my conference, I was distracted by these giant chandeliers hanging over my head.... in The Earthquake State
Of course, a trip to the city wouldn't be complete with amazing new food! I had the best Thai food EVER (yes, it even beat Taste of Thai in Fayetteville!) at a place like Ozone. Henry was completely gaga over the cute waitresses, who were completely gaga over him. Then we had some great raw food at Cafe Gratitude - Henry ate a whole avocado and about 1/4 of my food too!
One thing Henry LOVED was being strolled around the busy streets. He was completely enthralled with the big loud trucks and all the people and sounds. My mom and I walked many, many, many miles shopping, window shopping, and just strolling with him.
But I missed my dear husband and sweet girls, and I'm so happy to be home! (Even if I might never catch up with...anything ever again!)
