We had snow forecast for yesterday, and honestly, I just didn't believe it would be as much as they said. Tuesday is was gorgeous outside - bright blue sky, sunshine, no sign of impending doom. Even Wednesday morning, I got ready for work and rolled my eyes at everything being canceled (and was annoyed that FedEx wasn't even trying to get out, considering it was barely flurrying). But the flurries continued. And before long, we were covered in snow! For sure one of the biggest snows I've seen in Arkansas.
Isn't it gorgeous? Snow makes me SO HAPPY. I want my children to have winter memories like I did as a child, and now they will! I need to get pictures from dad from last week - he took them sledding. Yesterday they just did a lot of stomping through the yard and down the street. It was gloriously high and fluffy snow.
Here are my boots sinking into it. I wore pajama bottoms, because they were fleece and warmer than any real pants I had.
Plus, it wouldn't be a good snow day if we didn't stay in pajamas! Our other snow day tradition is that I make some overly sweet, yummy breakfast dish that I would never normally make because (1) I wouldn't have time and (2) we don't start normal days with a big dose of sugar. Last time I made stuffed French toast, yesterday I made baked oatmeal (which is basically an oatmeal cookie in casserole form - it's like half oats and half brown sugar ha! But YUM!)
Davis wanted to be my hero and get my camera from FedEx, so he was cleaning off the truck... he didn't get very far. But I love him SO much for trying!
Most of the day, I sat in my chair looking out the window - VERY happy - and working on some work stuff.
Henry joined me when he got cold.
Amelia joined me when she got cold too (this girl gets very cold very easily! when she was a baby her little hands and feet would turn blue every time I got her out of the tub. So she never lasts as long as her sister does outside in the winter)
Today it's been sunny and in the low 30's, and Sophia spent most of the day outside with Davis building a snow fort.
