Last night, we went to the Mardi Gras party at church. It was pouring rain outside and we were all tired, but once we stepped into the gym, it was so bright and full of music and laughter, I'm really glad we went!
My camera and I were fighting, I was carrying Henry most of the time, so I don't have great pictures. There was a gumbo cookoff, and it was AWESOME. I mean, the gumbo was awesome, but to me the table decorations were AWESOME.
Check out the duck widows (with duck gumbo, of course!)
My friend Mel, who was sick and totally didn't show it! Love her!
And this guy, I don't know who he is, but he won and he made sure every person with a camera got a picture of him with his award. So there, now he's on my blog :)
Congrats, dude!
There was so much food, it was ridiculous. On top of all the gumbo (I think about 10 tables worth!), there were also hot dogs, salad, pancakes of course, popcorn, cotton candy (nice, Davis!)
and King Cake.
The girls had a blast! They got their faces painted,
jumped in the bounce houses,
played with friends,
and had crazy balloon hats made.
By 6:45, which is Henry's normal crash time, he was DONE. Poor baby, he was just trying so hard to be cheerful, but he was rubbing his eyes and looking oh so pitiful, so we packed up and went home - everyone just crashed in bed (face paint on and everything!) Sophia wanted to skip her bath tonight, but I told her between the remnants of last night's face paint and today's ashes, she needed a good scrubbing!
