Catch up

Gosh, it's only taken me two more weeks to post again.

Things have been so hectic lately, finishing Sophia's tissue expansions and preparing to surgery - THIS WEDNESDAY! We are so happy to be finished and so ready to have these expanders out. Chances are we will have to do this one more time, but we pray that her surgeon can get as much of her birthmark as possible this time. As she gets older, these surgeries and expansions are getting harder and harder on her. She has started getting self-conscious, and it's breaking my heart.

In more cheerful news, Sophia has decided to potty train Amelia. For a couple of months now, whenever she went to the bathroom, Sophia would take Amelia with her and explain to her what she was doing. About a month ago, Sophia told us it was time to get a potty chair for Amelia, so we got the potty chair out of the attic. Since then, Sophia has been pulling off Amelia's pants and diaper and sitting her on the potty chair whenever she goes to the bathroom. One day Amelia peed, and Sophia exclaimed "I am SO proud of you!" and ever since, Amelia has been going potty in the potty 1-2 times a day :) This is a benefit of having more than one child that no one told me about, but I have since heard of other siblings doing the same... so anyone out there struggling with the first year of having a second baby, it gets SO much easier!

I was walking around my house, surveying the massive amount of cleaning and laundry and packing I need to do before we leave town on Tuesday, when I started thinking... I can't believe this is my house, I can't believe this is my life, I can't believe these are my children, I can't believe I have this husband... I was just overwhelmed with gratitude and, honestly, bewilderment - how can all of my mistakes and struggles end up like THIS?! Aaaah, the Lord is good :)
