Suprise Party

When I came home from work today Sophia said she wanted to play "surprise party."

Sophia took the striped little Stride Rite box (say that five times fast) that arrived today (how do you avoid the trauma of taking a two year old shoe shopping? my method is called Endless.com - with free overnight shipping and returns) and placing a carefully wrapped treasure inside - like a pine cone wrapped in tissue paper (the tissue paper was also courtesy of Endless). Then, she would hide it somewhere in the house and tell Amelia, or Daddy, or me that we had a surprise somewhere, and we had to find it. The look of excitement on her face as we found it and unwrapped it was Priceless :)

Right now they are taking turns locking each other into a wicker trunk - over and over and over again.

I'm so glad that my kids are good at entertaining themselves inside, because this is what our backyard looked like this weekend

I definitely think the wicker basket is a better alternative to the muddy, mucky backyard. I hope the sun starts shining you way soon.

My girls love wrapping things up. They used their blankies, their pre-school paintings, their doll blankets or even their pyjamas to wrap up treasures for me to Unwrap. Yes, the joy and delight on their little faces as I exclaim over some toy they've chosen to wrap up is so precious.

Just goes to show that for a pre-schooler it's the unwrapping of the gift that's just an important (maybe more?) than what's inside.

Our back yard looked like yours, too. We had a lot of lightening and thunder so I couldn't let the kids play outside. Very cute how you find the "surprise." I'll be she puts a lot of thought into where to hide the box.

Sounds like your girlies are indeed good at being creative! My kids have always loved putting stuff in boxes and wrapping things up for each other. Locking each other in a wicker trunk sounds like a blast! ha!

The picture of your girls in the rain is TOOOO cute!

I hope you're doing well. I'm praying for you.
Your friend,
Lynnette
