But no, this boy is a year old! And he is SO proud of himself for it. He stands up and gets so excited that he immediately falls back down. He is signing and trying to say more words, and every time he does, he just grins like I am so big! And just about anytime he does something cute, he laughs and claps for himself.
His party was on Saturday, and it was so fun! It was maybe my favorite party that I've had for one of my kids, just because my house was filled with my favorite people, and I just sat on the floor and watched my baby have a party. My awesome friend, Gretchan, took the pictures and I just got to enjoy the party, it was great!
I'll do a post later with details about the party. Henry at first was unsure about what was going on. I was worried that he was tired and would he fussy - he just laid on my shoulder and looked sad.
But then he had his first cupcake (he was serious about it, but loved it!)
and then he perked up! (notice the big bruise in the middle of his forehead! YIKES! He had a little mishap the other day, but that's part of what being 1 is all about!)
I wasn't sure if we would open gifts at the party, because I was worried he would get overwhelmed, but Amelia announced that it was time for gifts, sat Henry down and started bringing presents to him! And he loved it - he played with everything he got (and he got some GREAT stuff!)
I had popcorn at the party, and Henry LOVES popcorn (go ahead and call CPS, I know, I know). About halfway through opening gifts, Henry just laid down on the rug and started raking popcorn into his mouth. It was SO funny! I'm so glad Gretchan got a picture!
BLISS!
And you want to see more bliss? Amelia and the corn dip - she was shoveling ha ha!
In the end, Henry ended up having the best time! He just played and played with his new toys and his friends.
Speaking of friends, Henry has the most adorable BFFs in the world!
I was sad his friend William couldn't be there - they are only a few weeks apart and live next door to each other, and it's so cute to watch them together. But little William has RSV :( thankfully he's doing okay now, he just has to be away from other kids.
Yesterday I decided to make room for Henry's train table (which he LOVES) and new toys, so I moved the changing table out of his room (he's so squirmy, we mostly changed him on the floor anyway). I cried a little when I made that decision. I also packed up a bunch of baby stuff - it's in baby stuff purgatory right now... attic? give away? We don't know.
Here is Henry's "new" room.
He LOVES playing at the train table, because it's just the right height for him.
(we don't always wear pants at our house)
This boy, he stole my heart one year ago. I love him sooooo much, he just makes me happy!
